Amazon Career Choice Process

Associates eligible to participate in on-site classes should apply online at Amazon Career Choice

Amazon Career Choice is introducing several enhancements to the program on the eve of its 10th anniversary. These changes will go into effect by January 1, 2022:
  • Increased Options: Employees can choose from a wider variety of education offerings including high school completion/GED, English as a Second Language (ESL), and bachelor’s degrees, in addition to the previously offered associate degrees and certificates.
  • Fully Funded Opportunities: Up to an annual maximum benefit, Amazon will pre-pay 100% of tuition for you to pursue everything from bachelor’s degrees to certificates. Funds can be used for tuition, books and fees.
  • Limitless Learning: Amazon will remove the lifetime maximum on Career Choice benefits. As long as they continue to work at Amazon and are an eligible employee, they can continue to use your Career Choice benefit with no lifetime limit.
  • Fast Starts: U.S blue badge hourly employees (including part-time) will become eligible for Career Choice after 90 days of continuous employment (previously 12 months).

Pre-Enrollment Assessment

Prospective students should complete the Application and Pre-Enrollment Assessment prior to enrolling in any program of study. The program’s account manager will administer and proctor the exam. Exam-takers may not use any type of assistance (no cell phones, reference materials, etc.) All backpacks, notes, cell phones, calculators, etc. must remain under the exam-taker’s seat while taking the exam. Exam-takers will have 90 minutes to complete the exam.

Trainees who pass all 3 sections with a 75% may enroll in the course. Trainees who do not pass any of the sections with a 75% should consult with the account manager for course enrollment options or assistance referral.

Trainees who do not pass the Pre-Enrollment Assessment may seek remediation and retake the exam in the future. Trainees need only retake the section that was not passed to enroll in the course. For example, if the trainee passed the English Language proficiency with a 75%, the Math Proficiency with a 60%, and the IT Proficiency with a 90%, this trainee should seek remediation in math and return to take only the Math section of the assessment. Once the trainee scores a 75% or better in the Math section, he or she may enroll in the course.

Appeal Process
If a trainee disagrees with the grading of the Pre-Enrollment Assessment, he or she should contact the Account Manager for the program to discuss concerns.

Resources for Improving Proficiency

There are many resources to help trainees improve their proficiency in English Language, Math, and IT both online and in the trainee’s community. Trainees desiring instructor-led assistance in their local community should consult with their account manager.
